Please meet "The Artist", an East German chore jacket customised by brilliant Bristol-based artist Paul Farrell, size: menswear medium (womenswear Large).
Grey blue lighter cotton twill, minimalist cut.
This is what Paul says:
"Imagining the occupations and skills of the people who wore these garments in the past is my inspiration. When invited to customise work wear by the French Workwear Company it gave me an opportunity to bring these trades back to life by recreating and illustrating them. I didn’t want to affect directly the material itself too much so adapted a suitable and familiar industry feature and designed for stitched labels worn on the outside of the garments. Each label has been hand screen printed using acrylic fabric inks. The main three process colours (and black) have been used and overprinted to create 3 additional colours.
The Artist is the most recent in a series of reimagined trades and it features typical tools of that trade such as a colour wheel, paint brush and pencil. By developing a strong visual identity for each I hope I have given the clothing a personality, belonging, new life and hopefully a new home."
Inspired by a diet of 70s pop culture and the graphic arts, illustrator and graphic designer Paul Farrell’s bold, graphic style defines the everyday as imagery that is simple, colourful and playful.
